CHIEF OF STAFF

Reporting to the President & CEO and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Chief of Staff will be responsible for the development of the agency’s long-term  integrated strategic plan, compliance standards, human resources, and financial management.  Will assist in the pursuit of an overall diversification strategy and contribute to the development of selected high-impact, yet attainable strategic goals.  In addition to the long-range strategic components of this position, the Chief of Staff will be charged with developing and implementing standards for day-to-day operational excellence.  This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior executive with strong operational background and a proven track record of creative problem-solving and change management to join in a high-growth, mission-driven organization.  Ideal candidate will bring experience from nonprofit or government organizations delivering family crisis management, mental health services, community health services or community development.

Description of Duties

  • Oversee facilities/staff across North Texas and supervise operations staff and other critical support teams in the Dallas headquarters
  • Partner with the CEO in essential internal firm leadership activities (human resources, administration, and organizational planning)
  • Manage innovation related to information technology implementation and automation
  • Oversee human resources (recruiting, performance management, staff development, career progression)
  • Identify best practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities
  • Structure and lead operations teams to deliver outstanding client work
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships; exceptional relationship-builder
  • Represent agency in industry-group conferences, professional associations, and other public venues
  • Develop thought leadership around specific topics/emerging practice areas
  • Share in knowledge dissemination, reporting, and communications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years experience in a senior management position in nonprofit organizations, foundations, healthcare institutions or government agencies
  • BA/BS required,  plus CPA, MBA, LSW or MSW preferred
  • Experience with financial management for organizations with revenues of $5M to $50M
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with reporting and administration of federal and state grants, private funding sources, and fee for service contracts
  • Knowledge of board governance and reporting requirements
  • Track record delivering superior results, commanding respect, and assuming leadership roles
  • Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities
  • Proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, and good humor
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people – junior and senior, for-profit and nonprofit, and from diverse backgrounds
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Passionate about the mission and impact of the organization
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in organizational settings
  • Transparent, direct communications with participative leadership style
  • Self-starter, self disciplined, delivers against timelines
