About My Brother’s Keeper San Antonio (MBKSA)

My Brother’s Keeper San Antonio is a city-wide, collective impact initiative. We are a network of civic, organizational and community partners that are committed to promoting equitable outcomes for Hispanic and African American males. Our mission is to educate, support and empower boys and young men of color to achieve their goals and succeed.

MBKSA works to close opportunity gaps confronting boys and men of color, and ensure that they: 1) finish high school and complete post-secondary education or training; 2) are safe from violent crime; 3) are employed if they are out of school; and 4) have a chance to lead productive lives, even if they have been convicted of a crime or incarcerated.

Job Responsibilities

The project coordinator reports directly to the project manager and assists in convening and organizing MBKSA civic, organizational, and community partners. The project coordinator facilitates communication between initiative partners, provides logistical support for and coordinates meetings and events. The project coordinator is also responsible for assisting with public policy research related to the initiative’s goals and providing updates to P16Plus staff.

Job Duties:

·       Schedule and maintain MBKSA calendar of meetings, events and contract deadlines. This includes outreach activities, the MBKSA Steering Committee, Mentoring Network, High School Completion Committee, Post-Secondary Attainment Committee, Workforce Development Committee, and Reducing Violence and Recidivism Committee meetings & events.

·       Convene and organize committees to plan and execute events and strategic activities.

·       Provide administrative support for the project including: maintaining contact lists, taking minutes at meetings, sending out meeting reminders preparing/distributing meeting materials.

·       Conduct research on both public policies and institutional practices related to boys and men of color.

·       Identify resources as needed to support strategic objectives.

·       Provide weekly updates on progress to MBKSA team and ensure communication with project manager and other P16Plus staff.

·       Work with the project manager and office manager to provide documentation for contracts and grants.

Backbone Support and Ongoing Communication with Committees and Networks:

·       Attend other meetings as needed to share information about My Brother’s Keeper San Antonio and identify opportunities for collaboration.

·       Create content for the quarterly newsletter with input from MBKSA partners and draft periodic updates to the project website.

Education, Job Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required with 1 or more years of relevant work experience including at least one year of process management experience.  Excellent project management and organizational leadership skills; ability to manage details and work independently; strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills required. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including excel and power point, and social media; experience with and ability to address and overcome complex issues to achieve desired results.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, strong people and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage competing demands and priorities. S/he will possess an understanding of and commitment to racial equity and social justice, and have a commitment to working on behalf of underserved communities of color.  Experience continuous improvement preferred. 

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours a week.
