The Elgin Summer Reading Program is a vital link in the community to keep youth engaged in good, clean, mind healthy and educational fun during the summer months. Efforts to guide the youth in finding the joy of reading are goals of the program. The reading programs build on and maintain the reading skills that were presented during students' year of school so that when they return in the fall they are 'ready to roll.'
The 2009 Summer Reading program at the Elgin Public Library will begin Tuesday, June 9, with the theme 'Deep In The Heart of Texas' for this year.
The program is funded entirely by grant proposals and the generosity of the local community. The library has received partial funding for the Young Adults Program from the Loan Star Library and the Trull Foundation.
