GRACE Receives Million Dollar Donation

The value of the total number of hours donated to GRACE in 2008 surpassed one million dollar mark for the first time in the agency's history. Volunteers donated more than 54,000 hours last year, again an all-time high. In spite of the record numbers, several GRACE programs remain under-staffed with volunteers, the clinic being the most pressing need.

GRACE would like to thank everyone who contributed their time and thereby their talent to make a difference in this community. Congratulations to GRACE Volunteer Manager, Anna Shore for surviving that much activity.

For more information about volunteer opportunities throughout GRACE, please contact Anna at 817-488-7009 x119 or by e-mail at volunteer@gracegrapevine.org.

Cardiologist Joins Clinic Volunteers

Cheryl Mart, RN-BS, Clinic Nurse Manager

We have an ongoing need at the GRACE Clinic for medical specialists when the patient's illness is beyond the scope of our Family Practice Physicians. Cardiology  related issues are a fairly common specialist need for the GRACE Clinic patients, so we are very excited to announce that Jay Puppala, MD, a Board Certified Cardiologist, has joined the GRACE Volunteer Physician team.

Dr. Puppala will be providing cardiology evaluations on clinic patients identified with cardiac needs at a special clinic every other month.  We are thankful to Dr. Puppala for the generous donation of his time and talents to our mission and we look forward to partnering with him in providing medical care.

Thank you Dr. Puppala!

Healthpoint Conference Nets Donation for GRACE

The folks at Healthpoint held their annual sales conference last week at the Hilton DFW Lakes and honored GRACE with a donation. GRACE assisted the group with distribution of meals prepared during an "Iron Chef" style cooking competition and also received a cash donation of $1,000! GRACE staff member, Keith Miller was on-hand to help judge the cooking competition and received the surprise donation at the end of the evenings festivities.

From the Healthpoint website, "Healthpoint develops and markets innovative, quality pharmaceutical and medical products for the benefit of medical professionals and their patients impacted by chronic wounds."

GRACE would like to thank the wonderful folks at Healthpoint for having a heart for giving back to the community and to the Hilton DFW Lakes for their help with distributing the delicious meals!

Pantry Receives Infusion of Foods

Last Thursday, the GRACE Pantry received over $2,000 worth of food items from the Tarrant Area Food Bank. The items picked up includes microwave dinners, sliced and whole turkeys, whole chickens, cubed chicken breasts, shaved ham, turkey sausage and sliced pepperoni. We are so thankful for the support of the area food banks and are blessed to have our needs met.

Another recent pantry donation came from local student Jeff Trimmer. As a part of his Education in Action project, Mr. Trimmer decided to hold a food drive for GRACE. As a result of his activity, the GRACE Pantry received over 350 cans of food. We'd like to thank Jeff for his thoughtfulness and everyone who helped this young man make a difference for GRACE clients.

Current needs for the GRACE Food Pantry included shampoo, toothpaste, laundry soap and cleaning products along with canned refried beans, banned fruit, flour, children's cereal, dry beans and rice.

Donations can be dropped off at the GRACE Pantry at 837 E. Walnut in Grapevine during business hours. (9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday)

GRACE Receives Funds from Jewelry Event

Local fine jewelers, Grayson Allen held a special event back in December and owners Patty and Keary Turner decided to share their good fortune with the client of GRACE. The couple honored GRACE with a donation of $1,000 from the evening.

They have also decided that during the month of February, anyone making a purchase at Grayson Allen can mention GRACE and the jeweler will donate 10% of the sale to GRACE. This will apply to all jewelry and giftware purchases, all jewelry repairs (jewelry and watch), and appraisal services. With Valentine's Day coming up, you now can get some new bling for your babe and help the community at the same time! Just remember to mention GRACE at the time of purchase!

Thank you to Patty and Keary Turner of Grayson Allen Fine Jewelers for their generous inclusion of GRACE in this wonderful idea!
