End of Year Thank you!

Thank you for your support of Project MEND.  Our end of year giving campaign was a success because of your generosity.

Donations of medical equipment and financial support make it possible to serve clients like Jose.  We focus on serving people with disabilities who have no where else to turn for the medical equipment items they need in order to stay mobile and independent.

Mobility & Independence Snapshot

Lymphedema often goes untreated.  Recently we were updated on the experience one of our clients had.    He had given up on life, felt he was a burden to his family, and asked to enter a nursing home.  His legs were described as those we see in photographs and described as elephantiasis.  He was bedridden, completely immobile and dependent upon others.
Because of donations through a private citizen and a local Rotary Club, Project MEND was able to provide this client with fitted compression garments.  His reduction has been amazing as he lost over 14 inches in circumference per leg, can walk, dress, and most recently drove a car to take his wife to dinner for the first time in many years. His story is not unique.  There are many people in San Antonio, in the shadows of society, lost in a medical/insurance  system that does little to help people like him.
Thank you, donors, for making this life-changer possible.
** picture is an example of lymphedema and not an actual picture of our client's legs.

Partnership with The Academy at Morgan's Wonderland

First day of our Job-training partnership with The Academy @ Morgan's Wonderland. Over the next several months, Project MEND will provide work training for these 3 students from the Academy. We look forward to providing this work training opportunity to these fantastic students, and to many more in the years to come!

Thank you for your interest in Project MEND.  Your donations of used medical equipment or financial contributions make a huge difference in the lives of people living with disability or illness.  If you would like more information about Project MEND, or would like to keep abreast of what specific items we are in need of, please "like" our Facebook page.
