Plano Fire Truck Pull at Oak Amphitheater on Oct. 8

Those looking to test their strength or show it off in front of the community will have their chance to do just that when the Plano Fire Department hosts the Fire Truck Pull at the Oak Point Amphitheater onSaturday, Oct. 8 as a means to raise funds for Special Olympics Texas programming for athletes with intellectual disabilities in the Greater Dallas area. Team Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. The opening ceremony starts at 10:45 a.m. The first pull is slated for 11:00 a.m. Registration can be completed in advance online here.


The event is open to the public and is put on by the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), SOTX’s largest grass-root fundraiser.


The Fire Truck Pull requires teams of 12 friends, family members and colleagues to put their biceps to the test and work together to pull an actual 55,000-pound fire truck for 75 feet. The challenge wraps up with an awards ceremony for the Fastest Team Pull and Most Money Raised.


The entry fee is $300 per team or $25 per person. If there are fewer than the required number of participants on a team, please indicate so that “fill-ins” can be found.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $12 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 55,200 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
