New Data and Analysis about How San Antonio Kids are Doing
Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc.

May, 2016

On May 11, the Center for Public Policy Priorities, Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc., Voices for Children of San Antonio, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Intercultural Development Research Association (IDRA) will host a free breakfast briefing to release the State of San Antonio Children report, which will identify areas where conditions for San Antonio and other Texas kids are improving and other areas where we can do more for our children. The discussion will include recommendations for opportunities and policies that can ensure all kids — across ZIP code, family income, gender, race and ethnicity — have the ability to compete and succeed in life.

Mayor Ivy Taylor and Kevin C. Moriarty, President and CEO of Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc. will provide opening remarks.

For media RSVPs, please contact Oliver Bernstein at bernstein@cppp.org or 512-289-8618.

Briefing starting promptly at 9:00 AM

This year's report will feature a detailed breakdown of child data by race and ethnicity. The report comes on the heels of the April 13 launch of the statewide 2016 State of Texas Children and Dallas area snapshot. All of these reports identify where disparities exist and how our state and local policies can create opportunities or obstacles to success.

For members of the media who would like an embargoed copy of the San Antonio report and a pre-interview with the report author, please contact Oliver Bernstein.

This event is generously sponsored by Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc. and the Annie E. Casey Foundation.
