Please support CHILDREN AT RISK this holiday season. We need YOU!
Children at Risk

November, 2015

Your investment in CHILDREN AT RISK is critical to our efforts to improve the lives of Texas children.

In spite of the political turmoil that often characterizes our government, the 84th Texas Legislative Session passed many pieces of legislation to make our state a better place for children. CHILDREN AT RISK led the way in bi-partisan efforts that moved forward high quality pre-K, laws to fight child trafficking and fought to make evidence-based parenting classes more available across the state. Of 12 bills drafted by CHILDREN AT RISK, 8 passed... but there is so much more to be done.

We know that most children across the state are not ready for kindergarten. We know that 90% of brain development occurs by age 5. We also know that only 5% of public education dollars are spent on early childhood education.

At CHILDREN AT RISK, we focus on meeting the holistic needs of children: we look at how to strengthen parents so they have the resources to help their kids thrive; how to strengthen schools so they effectively educate children; and how to strengthen food access in schools and in neighborhoods for children who don't have enough to eat. CHILDREN AT RISK works to inform communities and legislators about what is and is not working for children, and we give parents the tools to support educated choices in the future.

These efforts are made possible by the generosity of people like you. Please consider investing in the future by investing in CHILDREN AT RISK. We need your support to ensure that high-quality, full day pre-K is a priority, and to power resources like www.texasschoolguide.org, the human trafficking database and our smartparents.org site. We need your support to ensure every child in Texas has a bright future.

We are so grateful for your interest and support of these priorities. Together, we can make Texas a better place for children!

For Children,

Dr. Bob Sanborn
President & CEO
