Independent Sector (IS) today released the findings from its year-long “Threads” conversations during the first full day of the 2015 “Embark” Independent Sector National Conference taking place in Miami, FL. The reporthighlights findings from community conversations about the challenges facing the nonprofit and philanthropic community, and bright spots of innovation and success.
“The Threads conversations have empowered the sector to understand our shared challenges and experiences,” said Erica Greeley, Vice President, Networks Independent Sector and principal author of the Threads report. “Thanks to the insight of leaders from across the country, we have a clear window into the obstacles to success and field-tested ideas about how to address them. I want to thank everyone who participated in this initiative, especially all the event participants across the country that shared their invaluable experience during these events. We are a stronger sector because of your input.”
Over the course of five months, from late March 2015 through late August 2015, 82 partners helped convene more than 2,000 participants for a series of 15 conversations in 13 cities across the country. The final report, Threads: Insights from the Charitable Community, provides an insightful snapshot into the challenges facing the sector and the solutions to those challenges. The report also emphasizes “bright spots” – successes and innovations occurring across the sector – and how national organizations like IS can help provide more value to members and organizations in the sector.
