This school year, we are focusing on how schools are performing this year in Texas! CHILDREN AT RISK (C@R) was recently featured in a KERA report on Dallas vs. Houston: How The Two Biggest School Districts In Texas Match Up.
Building off of our own annual School Rankings, C@R is proud to announce that the 3rd edition of Texas School Guide for Dallas ISD and Fort Worth ISD will be released on November 6th and will be presented in Ft. Worth at a Community Stakeholder Luncheon on November 21st. The printed version of Texas School Guide helps families navigate the public education system by providing rankings and other data in English and Spanish. Critical information and statewide rankings are also available online at www.texasschoolguide.org.
Organizations, after school programs and the community at large can pre-register for parent engagement workshops that illustrate how to use Texas School Guide. The guide will also be available to borrow from all Dallas and Fort Worth libraries. Please join us in understanding how local schools are performing, becoming aware of school choice options, and advocating for high quality public schools!
Very truly yours,

SUPPORT C@R ON NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY!
100,000 U.S. children are at risk for commercial sexual exploitation. Even more shocking, the average age these kids enter into prostitution is 13, and, unless rescued, most will die within 6 to 7 years after they are trafficked. During the 84th Legislative Session, CHILDREN AT RISK won several important battles to help eradicate human trafficking. ....Read more about CHILDREN AT RISK's efforts to stop human trafficking!

2015 ACCOLADES LUNCHEON IN HOUSTON
Today, there are 36 million people who have fallen through the cracks into modern-day slavery. To celebrate the incredible work that is being done to end the demand for commercial sex, C@R and the Citizens Committee to End Human Trafficking will honor State Representative Senfronia Thompson and Senator Joan Huffman at this year's Accolade's Luncheon on October 23 at Houston's Hotel ZaZa. The Accolades Luncheon will feature work from artist, activist, and Honorary Chair, Molly Gochman. Her Red Sand Project invites you to recognize that the most vulnerable people in our communities carry the greatest risk of losing their freedom. Please visit our website for event details and information on sponsorship levels and individual tickets.
