Eye on the ball
San Antonio Spurs players, assistant coaches and video coordinators hosted two youth clinics for participants in the Spurs Youth Basketball League, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, during the month of March.
Spurs guard Danny Green and assistant coach Becky Hammon led a clinic at the Garza Community Center and guard Cory Joseph and assistant coach Jim Boylen hosted another clinic at the East Side Boys & Girls Club.
The clinics allowed one on one instruction with SYBL players ages 8 - 14 as the San Antonio Spurs coaches and players led groups in shooting, dribbling and passing drills. The players and coaches also emphasized the importance of respect and making positive choices, two tenants of the league, when addressing the young players.
The Spurs Youth Basketball League, presented by Pizza Hut, is funded by Silver & Black Give Back. Co-founded by Coach Popovich and Frank Martin, the league focuses on the positive character lessons learned from sport.
