Almost there--with a little help from our friends!

Once again, we find ourselves at the final push to reach our annual fundraising goal. The Shumla Staff and Board are working to raise the final $12,000 before our January 31, 2015 deadline to fund the Border Canyonlands Archaeological Project.

In this season of giving, please consider a donation to Shumla. We truly appreciate the financial support of our donors who honor their passions, interests and loved ones with a charitable gift. Every penny we raise is used to support our mission to document, preserve and share the precious cultural resources of the Lower Pecos.

Please visit www.shumla.org and click on the "Donate" icon in the upper right corner of the homepage, or mail your gift to Shumla, P.O. Box 627, Comstock, TX 78837.

CHS Greenhouse Nears Completion!!

The new greenhouse located behind Comstock ISD is nearly complete. Our Shumla Scholars began the project by surveying the proposed location with the Total Data Station. They used this data to create a detailed topographic map in preparation for the greenhouse.

The greenhouse arrived as part of a kit that required assembly. After laying gravel to prepare the location, the scholars assembled the frame and attached the siding and door.

Now, after the roof  is attached, Comstock ISD will have a functioning field laboratory to be used for a variety of educational purposes. Our scholars learned some important things along the way as well. Most importantly, they now know the importance of reading the instruction manual. A lesson, perhaps, that we all need to learn.

Although Missy Harrington and Keith Mann were MIA on picture day, we wanted to send out a group holiday card. Left to right: Jerod Roberts, Vicky Munoz, Carolyn Boyd, Brenda Norman and Jeremy Freeman.

From our familia to yours, Merry Christmas!

Shumla Wish List

Vicky says, "Whenever we ask for new things from our wishlist it doesn't take long before our supporters take care of it. That really makes us feel good knowing that so many of you care and support what we're doing. It's a weird problem not being able to keep that wishlist fully stocked sometimes but it is a wonderful problem. Thank you for your continued generosity, Shumla Familia!"
