Over the past year, we’ve devoted a significant amount of energy to generate new ways to engage the community with our mission. In 2015, we will piolot Life Journey programs with Nature through early childhood development series, school field trips to the Herff Farm, movie nights, teen after-school nature club, art in nature classes, restoration ecology monitoring at the farm, nature photography competitions, and much more!  These programs are made possibly with your contributions. We are very grateful for your continued support of the Nature Center and look forward to the bright future that awaits us all.  Stay tuned to our website for the new programs and Join the Journey!
Read below to see how YOUR financial contributions make a world of difference to the Cibolo Nature Center and Farm.

Experience the Trails & Beauty   If you have guests in town for the holidays, there’s no better way to show off Boerne than at the Cibolo Nature Center and Farm. With free access to miles of trails for the enjoyment of all ages and abilities, the Nature Center and trails are easily accessible from downtown Main Street connected by the City of Boerne Trails.  We also have handicapped-accessible trails, including a boardwalk and marsh and a trail directly to the creek. Contributions to the CNC Support trail maintenance and landscape restoration.

Shop The Farmer’s Market  Who doesn’t love fresh garden-grown produce, homemade jellies and sweet treats, upcycled artisan products, and a shopping experience that feels more like a festival than a supermarket? Last year the Market served 10,000 attendees and provided direct opportunities to dozens of local farmers. The Farmers Market at the Herff Farm is one of the only Markets on an actual farm in the region. The Market is open from 8:30- 12:30 Saturdays (March – December 20th, 2014)

Experience Our Events  The Cibolo Nature Center & Farm is about inspiring the community to care about nature, and to protect it.  Through events like the Outdoor Concert Series, the Native Plant Sale, and the annual gala we are continuing to reach and engage more people each year.  Events help secure funds to CNC to promote conservation of natural resources through education and stewardship.

Take a Class with our Adult Education Programs  Learn more about the natural world and how to live lightly. Through workshops, events and citizen science projects, The Cibolo Nature Center & Farm shows you how to create wildlife habitat, grow your own food, harvest rainwater & solar energy, and identify the wildlife that enriches our lives.  Keep an eye on our calendarfor great offerings all year round!

Connect with our Volunteer Team  Volunteers are the heart and soul of the CNC. There are many ways to get involved and contribute your time and talents at the Cibolo Nature Center and Farm. Whether it’s leading a hikes, assisting with research, organizing events or working in our Inspiration Garden our volunteers make a significant impact. We appreciate you, the community appreciates you, and, especially, Nature appreciates you! Email us at volunteer@cibolo.org to volunteer today!

Help us Conserve the Cibolo Creek  The Cibolo Conservation Corridor encompasses over 800 acres and 4 miles of the Cibolo Creek adjacent to, and directly downstream from the Cibolo Nature Center where over 1 million gallons of water a day then vanishes into both the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers. The work of the Cibolo Nature Center & Farm over the past 26 years has been protecting and conserving this habitat.  We have positively impacted the protection of the critical Cibolo Creek Watershed in its most valuable recharge areas.  The next time you turn on the water in your home, think of the work of the CNC & Farm in helping to keep that water safe and plentiful.  And don’t forget to do your part to conserve!

Historic Herff Farm Homestead Visitor Center & Gallery  As a leader in nature education, we identified the unique opportunity for sustainability education with the historic Herff Farm.  Restored structures such as the windmill, the rainwater collection, the barn, the aviary and more will become interpretive displays and working examples of sustainability in action. As Phase II developments are currently underway we are restoring the land, collaborating with experts in historical preservation and public-use site design, as well as hosting workshops for people to learn valuable ‘green living’ practices. Learn more about the Herff Farm!

Participate in our Citizen Science Program   Stay on the pulse of the local ecosystem via our scientific citizen science research.  Participants have the unique opportunity toconduct wildlife field research, monitor the local heron rookery, water fowl, bird nest boxes, water quality, native plant health, wild animal populations, and more.  The Cibolo Nature Center and Farm actively collaborates with state and national organization to help determine long-range trends. Donations to this program directly influence thestewardship and land management of the Cibolo Conservation Corridor.

Support our Children’s Programs From playing in the creek, to looking for strange creatures in the marsh, to skipping down our many trails, kids experience the wonders of the outdoors here.  While a fun visit is always a priority, most importantly our education programs serve schoolchildren throughout the region.  The Education Team reached over 13,000 kids in 2014 with the following initiatives:     Outdoor Classroom encourages participation by low-income and inner-city schools in the San Antonio area. Nature Boxes brings the outdoors right into the classrooms for a self-guided learning adventure.  State-licensed Summer Camp served 400 children through activities that focus on nature themes and art.  Monthly Mother Nature Storytime for children ages birth to 5.  Kids Club for kids 5 and up provides engaging nature lessons combined with a fun activity.      The best hope for the future of the environment is to teach children to cherish it now.  Your contribution provides scholarships for children to participate in the award winning Outdoor Classroom or camp programs.
