WHO: THE PANEL
· After 17 years as a chef, Chad Houser sold his partnership of Parigi Restaurant to devote his full attention to the role of Executive Director of Café Momentum. His passion is to teach life, social and employment skills to Dallas’ most at-risk youth.
· As an award-winning middle school teacher, Jayda Batchelder saw firsthand that content mastery alone was not adequately preparing her students for high school success. She is now the Founding Executive Director of Education Opens Doors, a grassroots nonprofit that partners with schools across North Texas to empower students to purposefully navigate through high school to college using their manual, Roadmap to Success, and an aligned program.
· Reid Porter is the President and founder of ACT (Advocates for Community Transformation), an organization he started out of the need to make inner-city neighborhoods safer places to live, free from crime and urban blight. A lawyer by trade, Porter leads ACT to assist West Dallas clients through an ongoing casework approach supported by a strategy of structural prevention.
Byron Sanders is the Executive Director of the Dallas Education Foundation, a nonprofit charitable and educational organization that benefits the Dallas ISD. The Foundations goal is to rally philanthropic, corporate, and community support for initiatives and programs benefitting the students of the 2nd largest public school district in Texas.
