Amplify Austin, the giving day in Austin, was held from 6:00 pm March 20th through 6:00 pm March 21st.  This is the second year that Austin has held a giving day.  In that 24-hour period, donors made34,266 donations to 497 organizations for a grand total of $5,705,808!

Nonprofit registration closes Friday, April 11th

San Antonio is coming together for our first 24-hour day of giving on May 6, 2014. Show your support for your favorite nonprofits by making a gift to them through The Big Give S.A.



All online donations given on May 6 give your favorite nonprofit the opportunity to earn matching funds and prize incentives. This means that your gift has the capacity to leverage additional funding.

Member Training Session 

BoardEffect portal orientation training for organizations that have joined the Foundation’s membership program. Training includes an overview and tour of the portal, tips for management and administration of BoardEffect, and a Q&A/practice session. 




BoardEffect is an online portal that streamlines board work and provides directors easy access to important information. Accessible via computer or a free iPad app, BoardEffect will help your board communicate and collaborate effectively and improve their efficiency.

Training includes an overview and tour of the portal, tips for management and administration of BoardEffect and a Q&A/practice session. Creating your board packet becomes a simple task of dropping files into an online agenda, customized to fit the order of your board meetings. Organizing meetings becomes simple with BoardEffect's RSVP tool -- administrators survey board members on dates that work for their schedules and then select the most popular date with one click. Committee and board collaboration becomes streamlined with online discussion, live chat and voting tools. 

For those who are not yet members but would like to know more about BoardEffect, you are welcome to attend and watch the training. Hands-on learning is available to members whose profiles have been entered into BoardEffect by Area Foundation staff prior to the training session.

Leadership Academy    

2014 San Antonio Nonprofit Wage and Benefit Survey

Werling Associates, Inc. would like to invite you to participate in the 2014 San Antonio Nonprofit Wage and Benefit Survey.

The survey is sponsored by the San Antonio Area Foundation and funded by the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation.

Werling Associates, Inc. has conducted a not-for-profit survey in the San Antonio area since 1998. Last year’s survey included data for 92 jobs from 89 agencies. The final report of the survey will include a thorough analysis of job-specific compensation data, thus providing organizations with the information necessary to make reliable and equitable financial decisions.

The survey is in electronic format to make data submission more efficient. The questionnaire is also available on the Werling Associates Inc.'s website.

Please include your organization’s name in the subject line. The final date for participation is Friday, May 9, 2014. 
All survey participants will receive a FREE copy of the final report.

The survey will be published in June. Following publication, all participants are invited to attend a free seminar on June 27, 2014 at The San Antonio Area Foundation presented by Dr. Stephen Werling of Werling Associates, Inc. to discuss the survey results. Library Training




The San Antonio Area Foundation will host a FREE library training workshop Thursday, April 24 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. The session will be led by Sandie Palomo-Gonzalez who will highlight the electronic and print resources available for your free use at the San Antonio Area Foundation, a partner in the Foundation Center’s Funding Information Network.

2014 Leadership Academy

With that assumption, the San Antonio Area Foundation partnered with Graduate School of Business and Leadership at Our Lady of the Lake University to create an advanced Leadership Academy specifically geared to nonprofit CEOs, Executive Directors and their senior management staff. This intensive, four-day training program will help executives master the skills necessary to lead their organizations to the next level in achieving their mission.
