"POETRY OF PLACE" is designed for ALL levels: to help poets familiarize themselves with lyrical, narrative, and formal approaches to setting and sensory placement, and to give writers of all genres the chance to understand the link between elevated language and chronological, historical, cultural, and physical place, and explore this interplay in greater depth.

R. FLOWERS RIVERA was awarded the 2009 Leo Love Merit Scholarship in Poetry in association with the Taos Summer Writers Conference. Her collection,Troubling Accentswas published by Xavier Review Press, this past July. Her work has been anthologized in Mischief, Caprice & Other Poetic Strategies and published in journals such as African American ReviewThe Beloit Poetry JournalColumbiaFeminist StudiesObsidian, and The Southern Review.
