Author Elissa Schappell to hold readings at Texas State, Porter House

The Katherine Anne Porter Literacy Center and the Wittliff Collections at Texas State University-San Marcos present readings and book signings from nationally recognized author and editor Elissa Schappell Feb. 23-24.

Schappell will speak and sign copies of her book at the Wittliff Collections, located on the seventh floor of Alkek Library on the Texas State campus Feb. 23 at 3:30 p.m. She will give a second reading the following day at the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center, located at 508 Center St. in Kyle at 7:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

Schappell is a co-founder and editor-at-large of Tin House Magazine, as well as the author of the novel Use Me, a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Foundation Award. She is also a co-editor with Jenny Offill of the anthologies The Friend Who Got Away and Money Changes Everything. She is a contributing editor at Vanity Fair and a frequent contributor to the New York Times Book Review. Her essays, articles, and stories have appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies such as The Bitch in the House, The KGB Bar Reader and The Mrs. Dalloway Reader. She teaches in the low-residency MFA program at Queens University in Charlotte, N.C. and at Brooklyn College in New York.

Both events are sponsored by the Burdine Johnson Foundation, the Wittliff Collections and the Texas State University Department of English. Books will be available during and after the events through the University Bookstore and Barnes and Noble.
