San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup
San Antonio Sports

February, 2012

Why should kids have all the fun?  Officials from San Antonio Sports, the city’s non-profit sports commission, were joined by Mayor Julián Castro, local Chambers of Commerce and other business leaders to announce details of the 2012 San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup, a day-long competition that will bring local employees together for one day of blood-pumping fitness, friendly competition and workplace camaraderie.

The inaugural San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup will be held on Saturday, June 2 at the University of Incarnate Word’s Benson Stadium.  Thirteen (13) events will be offered, from corn toss to football toss, golf chipping to track and field events and tug-of-war.  It will be a fun-filled adult field day designed to celebrate fitness and healthy competition within our city’s corporate community.

"In order to be a great city, we must be a healthy city," Mayor Julián Castro said. "I urge every company in San Antonio to join our existing corporate partners in demonstrating that fitness is serious fun, as well as a serious issue for our community."

For businesses, it’s an opportunity to encourage and exhibit their company’s commitment to improving workplace wellness and to boost morale.  For employees, it will be a great way to have fun with their fellow workers beyond the walls of their offices, embrace a spirit of healthy competition with like-sized companies, and inspire personal fitness.  For both, it’s a chance to contribute– and win points for doing so – to deserving charities including the San Antonio Food Bank, Haven for Hope and the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center.  Overall event proceeds will benefit the San Antonio Sports youth sports and fitness programs which serve more than 170,000 children annually.

“San Antonio Sports is excited to offer the Corporate Cup to employers in San Antonio.  So many companies are investing in their employees’ health by offering wellness programs.  We want to highlight their efforts and give their employees an event that celebrates San Antonio’s move toward becoming a fitter city.”

Each team will compete in one of four divisions based upon the company’s total number of San Antonio-based employees (full and part-time). Two companies of 20 or fewer employees may combine for one entry.  For a complete list of events and an entry form, visit SanAntonioSports.org.
