While floating down the lazy River at Hawaiian Falls Water Park, our founding member thought it would be a blast if she could bring her lab to the park. She asked the park owner, Dave Busch, if he would consider hosting a doggie splash day to benefit MAC, and he told her to pick a day and have fun.
She told a few friends, they told a few friends and attendance has grown from 200 the first year to more than 2,000 in 2010. The goal for 2011 is to break the Guinness Book of World Records for largest Doggie Pool Party. Wags and Waves is a one day, volunteer run event that includes: local bands playing on stage above the wave pool, local celebrities judging doggie contests such as best costume and best pet/human trick, pet psychics, more than 50 vendors, local rescues with dogs available for adoption, pet cpr/first aid, both human and canine massages, microchipping and of course great food for owners and snacks for pets.
