| | Thank you for your advocacy throughout the regular and special legislative session. Your support and commitment to improved outcomes for Texas children allowed us to secure some critical victories for Texans in a time of severe cuts. Despite the many challenges, we made progress including:
- The new Texas juvenile justice system is required to prioritize prevention and community-based supports.
- For the first time, the state has mandated efforts to curb the practice of medically unwarranted early c-sections and inductions—a bad practice by many hospitals that researchers have found leads to bad outcomes for moms and babies.
- New standards are in place to help ensure children in foster care receive the supports and services they need for better health and mental health.
- Elementary school children will no longer receive criminal citations for minor school misbehavior.
Representing the voices of a myriad of members throughout the state increases our effectiveness and ensures real Texas communities are being heard.
We ask that you become a member now so that we can stay connected with you. If you represent a public entity or nonprofit or community-based organization, in recognition of the critical role you play, membership is free. Together we will continue to work for a better start for all Texans.
