SA Symphony - FREE Community Concerts
San Antonio Symphony

When:                        Saturday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Where:                       Edgewood Academy Theatre,

607 Southwest 34th Street

Price:                          Free concert

 

The San Antonio Symphony offers this free neighborhood concert as part of the Symphony’s AT&T Music Scholars program. Ken-David Masur will conduct the Symphony and joining on the program will be the Edgewood Beginning Strings, Edgewood Orchestra and Edgewood Mariachi. The repertoire will be:

Bizet               “Les Toréadors” from Carmen Suite No. 1              

trad.                 Mary Had a Little Lamb, played by Edgewood Beginning Strings 

trad.                 Twinkle Twinkle, played be Edgewood Beginning Strings 

Mozart                        Ah! Vous dirai-je, Maman (Twinkle Variations)

Copland          “Hoe-Down” from Rodeo                              

Lennon/McCartney, arr. Gonzales     Yesterday (played by the Edgewood Orchestra)       

Badelt, arr. Lavender and Moore       Pirates of the Caribbean (Main Theme)

Rosas, arr. Winter      Sobre las olas

trad.                 Cerca del mar, played by the Edgewood Mariachi  

trad., arr. Ortiz/DeBoer          El son de la negra

Price:                          $10 per ticket

 

The Symphony and the Community Fine Arts Network (www.thecfan.org) present a concert in SteeleHigh School. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at www.thecfan.org. Ken-David Masur will conduct:

Tchaikovsky               Polonaise from Eugene Onegin        

Tchaikovsky               Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64

When:                        Tuesday, May 31 at 7:00 p.m.

Where:                       BrackenridgeHigh School,

400 Eagleland Drive

Price:                          Free

 

The Symphony offers free neighborhood concerts, as part of the AT&T Music Scholars program on May 24 and 31 at LanierHigh School and BrackenridgeHigh School. These concert include musicians from both schools. Ken-David Masur will conduct the Symphony and the repertoire will include:

Tchaikovsky               Movement IV. from Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36               

Bizet                           “Danse bohème” from Carmen Suite No. 2

Arlen/Harburg                        Over the Rainbow      

Copland                      “Saturday Night Waltz” from Rodeo

Rossini                        Overture to William Tell

The San Antonio Symphony will offer a free Memorial Day concert filled with patriotic American music on May 27. Ken-David Masur will conduct:
