Science City - Grand Opening

Saturday, March 5

10:00am

Our new permanent exhibit, Science City, is filled with many interactive experiences and opportunities for children to think like scientists!
New science discoveries will include:

• Test your building skills by designing structures that withstand the forces of nature

• Make electrifying discoveries as you investigate the science behind circuits

• Race to the finish as you experiment with aerodynamics and momentum in our race track exhibit

Exhibit included with $7 Museum admission.

 

Little Daily Planner’s Mondays at the Museum
Every FIRST Monday of the month
Monday, March 7
9:00am – 11:00am

Members of Little Daily Planner receive ½ price admission of $3.50 between 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Girl Scouts Day
ALL DAY

Reduced Admission for girl scouts who come in uniform. Earn a free San Antonio Children’s Museum patch by completing our Girl Scout

Scavenger Hunt. Cost: $5 Admission for Scout only, family members standard admission rates

 

Mr. Puppet
2:00pm - 3:00pm

Kick-off spring break with some laughs. Mr. Puppet will be bringing some of his favorite friends to share silly songs, funny stories and plenty of non-stop laughter!

Kuniko – Japanese Storyteller
11:00am

Kuniko, a storyteller visiting from Japan, will mix mime, mask and music with a touch of magic. Join us as we learn to tell a story with the art of origami.

Kids are free between 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

$1 parking between 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (Mid-City garage on the corner of Navarro and College St.) Children must be accompanied by an adult. One adult may accompany up to four children.

Art Project: Painted Paper Bag Bug Puppets

Pint-Sized Science (Ages 4-6 yrs) 
Every Wednesday
2:00pm
Pint-Sized Science introduces your budding scientists to basic science concepts. Every month we’ll explore a different theme such as weather, animals, reactions, nutrition and many more.  Free with museum admission.
March Theme:  “Motley Science” - This month, we’ll explore several different areas of science. (24 Child Maximum, Ages 4-6. First Come, First Served.)
3/2 Baby Diaper Science: Experiment with different states of matter and test the superabsorbent polymers inside of a baby’s diaper.
3/9 Bubble Trouble
: Learn about what makes a bubble a bubble and why bubbles are not always round.
3/16 Electrifying Science: Participate in hair raising investigations. Become human circuits, human static generators and make and take home static electricity toy.

3/23 Under Pressure:
Safely discover the explosive uses of carbon dioxide by blowing off lids, squishing marshmallows and more.
3/30 Incredible Insects:
Discover what makes an insect incredible. Observe live insects.

Unstructured activity time to build upon your child’s fine and gross motor skills. For ages 0-3 years. FREE with museum admission.

 

Reading Adventures (Pre-K)

Reading Adventures is an early childhood program created and taught by experienced early childhood educators. The program strengthens language, listening and motor skills through story time, pretend dramatic play and multisensory activities. FREE with museum admission.      

 

Dots & Squiggles (Pre-K)
Every Friday

Dots and Squiggles is an early childhood program created and taught by experienced early childhood educators. Fun and engaging lessons encourage children to experience a wide variety of activities that incorporate art, sensory exploration, movement, music, story time and dramatic play. FREE with museum admission.

The museum offers three floors of interactive play exhibits, including the H-E-B Kids’ Market, a Tot Spot dedicated to infants and toddlers 0-36 months, action-packed PowerBall Hall and weekly science, art and early literacy activities for children ages 0 –10.
