    Ken Diehm 1958-2011
Ken DiehmSaturday, February 19, we lost a true champion of the GRACE mission and a wonderful man. Ken Diehm served on the GRACE Board of Directors for many years and his church has been a wonderful mission partner since the beginning of GRACE.

Our prayers go out to his family, friends and congregation. We honor his contribution not only to this agency, but to the entire community. He will be truly missed.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 26 at First United Methodist Church Grapevine. The church is located at 422 Church Street.

    New Director of Development
    Mark Woolverton, GRACE Development Director

    Mark Woolverton

On Monday, the new GRACE Development Director, Mark Woolverton started his journey with us. Mark comes to us with extensive development experience with agencies such as American Red Cross and Children's Medical Center. He has already hit the ground running, chasing down leads for sponsors of our night golf tournament. He's an excellent addition to an already awesome development team! (That's right, I said it.)

Mark and Lisa, his wife of 34 years, live in Irving with three dogs (two big, one little). They have three grown daughters: Julie, Kate, and Libby. Julie, the oldest, has a daughter named Maddy.

Help us welcome Mark to the GRACE family. With his guidance, we're expecting lots of great "developments" in 2011 and beyond!

TXU Program Aims For Cooler, Cheaper Summer

If you are a TXU customer and qualify for GRACE services, a new program called TXU Energy Efficiency Assistance may be able to help you survive the summer. Through TXU, GRACE is providing window air conditioning units, ceiling fans, and box fans for TXU customers who qualify. Weatherproofing, compact fluorescent light kits, and energy saving guides are also available. The aim of the program is to help customers stay cool and save on their electric bill.

If you or someone you know is a TXU customer and could benefit from this program, call us at 817-488-7009 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              817-488-7009      end_of_the_skype_highlighting.

    It's...Another Monty Python Madness Donation!

Last October, we told you about a unique event called Monty Python Madness that we was put on by the great folks over at British Emporium and benefitted GRACE. Last week, we received another blessing from the event: a check for $750 from Verizon Foundation on behalf of employee Steve Frisch. GRACE received the grant as part of Verizon's program that matches employee volunteer hours with grants to the employee's charity of choice.
It's Man from Monty Python's Flying Circus

"It's Man" from Monty Python's Flying Circus

During the event, Mr. Frisch portrayed the Michael Palin character, "It's man" from the Monty Python television show. If you look closely at the photo above, you'll see the striking natural resemblance.

We would like to thank Mr. Frisch, Sheela Kadam, Alexandra Evans, and the Verizon Foundation for including GRACE in their celebration of the looniness that is Monty Python! Cheers!

    Pantry Recipient Gives Back
    Carlos Rodriguez and Jorge Mireles

    Carlos Rodriguez and Jorge Mireles

Jorge Mireles came to the pantry for food during the week of the first ice storm. He is a contractor with some extra time on his hands due to the low demands of the season. He was so touched by the support GRACE was providing during such a difficult time, he felt he had to do something to show his appreciation. When he was told about our need for a fresh coat of paint on the waiting room walls, he jumped at the chance to help. He came back the following week with two more volunteers, Carlos Rodriguez and Manuel Fernandez, and painted not only our waiting room, but both bathrooms, the intake room and the hallway! They worked long hours to complete a professional job, even working on the weekend. However, Jorge says he's not done yet. He's planning to come back and paint the volunteer's room and some additional hallways!

If you're in the neighborhood, be sure and stop by to see the great new look that Jorge, Carlos, and Manuel have provided. We are so very appreciative of the great work they've done!
