Greg Koch and Terry Kieschnick Join Lutheran Social Services Board
Lutheran Social Services of the South (LSS)

February, 2011

Gregory M. Koch, J. D., from Houston, TX, and Terry Lee Kieschnick from Georgetown, TX, have been elected to the Lutheran Social Services of the South (LSS) Board of Directors.

LSS is a multifaceted social services agency based in Austin that serves more than 45,000 people throughout Texas and Louisiana each year. LSS provides foster care and adoption services through the agency’s 16 offices throughout Texas, and operates three children’s residential treatment centers, one emergency refugee children’s shelter, six senior living communities, Trinity Charter Schools on four campuses, emergency assistance in the Lubbock area, and help and support for hurricane and disaster victims.

Selection for the Board is based on demonstrated interest, expertise, and involvement in serving LSS through its social ministries, and carrying out its mission of providing help, healing, and hope to those in need, regardless of religious beliefs, ethnicity, gender, or age. The term for the LSS Board is three years.

Koch manages Gregory M. Koch & Associates, P.C., an independent law firm that provides legal counsel in commercial and individual litigation. Koch’s law career followed 11 years with the NFL as an offensive lineman. He was selected All Pro in 1982, and was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in July 2010 and the University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor in September 2010.

Kieschnick’s volunteer work in the Lutheran Church includes being keynote speaker at Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) conventions across the nation, advisory board member of Pastoral Leadership Institute, and member of the Concordia University Mequon Women’s Leadership Institute Advisory Board. Her role as pastor’s wife has provided opportunity for support of her husband Jerry Kieschnick’s 40 years of ministry as mission developer, parish pastor, development executive, district president, and national church body president.

“Greg Koch and Terry Kieschnick both bring a passion for community involvement and children’s causes to the LSS Board, at a time when the foster care system in Texas is poised to undergo major changes. We are very fortunate to have them joining us during this important transition,” said Dr. Kurt Senske, chief executive officer of LSS.
