If You Could Help One Dog or Cat...
SNAP Needs Your Help to Reduce the Number of Animals Euthanized in 2011

Approximately five million animals will be euthanized in U.S. shelters in 2011. No one person can save them all. One person can save one animal though. If you could save one, would you? Good news... you can! In fact, when you help SNAP spay or neuter one animal, you prevent dozens (and hundreds into the future) of additional puppies or kittens from being born. This is the power of spay-neuter. It is the single most effective way to reduce the number of homeless animals.

Your donation to SNAP supports the operation of our mobile clinics, which visit low-income areas bringing free spay-neuter surgery and rabies shots to qualifying households.

The lights were dazzling and the crowd was chic but convivial at the 2010 SNAPshots Celebration on Thursday, December 2nd. The evening was filled with exciting and memorable moments as a multitude of guests soaked up sophisticated designs on the runway, creative works on the Collars for a Cause auction tables, and amazing products and services on the silent auction tables. Fabulous food, refreshing drinks, and great music provided a backdrop against which many encountered old friends and found new ones. Full story.

Awesome Collars Raise Big Dollars
Inaugural Collars for a Cause Auction Raises over $6,000

SNAP Dog Isabella with collars donated for Collars for a Cause.

What do ZZ Top bass player Dusty Hill, star forward Brian Ching of the Houston Dynamos, and CNN television personality Joy Behar have in common? All three of them helped raise over $6,000 for SNAP by creating custom collars for the inaugural Collars for a Cause auction. This impressive total was achieved despite a minor last minute wrinkle in the auction website that caused problems for some bidders on the final day. The problem was dealt with swiftly by the crack team at Digital Function, who created the site. Full story.

Mobile Clinic Comes to Pasadena
City Funds Weekly Visit for Nine Months

The SNAP mobile clinic comes to Pasadena in January!

SNAP has good news for residents of Pasadena, Texas. The city, which lies just southeast of Houston, has funded a program to bring the SNAP mobile clinic to the area one day a week for a period of nine months. The program will start on January 1, 2011. A clinic webpage has been created for the Pasadena program and provides complete details about how it operates. Briefly, the mobile clinic offers free spay-neuter surgery and rabies shots for qualifying low-income households. Full story.

Ruggeri Celebration Saves Lives
Fifty-Three Animals Sterilized at Spay-Neuter Event Funded by Lost Pawses Benefit

In Memory of Jennifer Ruggeri

SNAPtales reported in August of 2010 on a planned celebration of life at the Palm Restaurant in memory of Jennifer Ruggeri. That event, which took place on Thursday, August 12, 2010, benefited SNAP. The happy news is that so much was raised by the generous attendees that it funded a special spay-neuter event in honor of Ruggeri at the SNAP Spay-Neuter and Animal Wellness Clinic in Houston. That event took place on November 22, 2010, and resulted in 53 animals being spayed and neutered. Among the animals sterilized were 28 cats and 25 dogs. Full story.

Sharing at the H-E-B Feast of Sharing
SNAP San Antonio Team Shared Spay-Neuter Facts at Annual Holiday Event

H-E-B held its annual Feast of Sharing on December 18, 2010.

The SNAP San Antonio team participated in the annual H-E-B Feast of Sharing on Saturday December 18, 2010, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in downtown San Antonio. This was the second year for SNAP personnel to staff an outreach booth at the event. The Texas-based H-E-B grocery store chain, which sponsored the event, invited the public to enjoy a free holiday meal and some warm holiday cheer. Approximately 17,000 people took advantage of the generous invitation! Workers at the SNAP booth handed out information on SNAP spay-neuter programs and made appointments for those with animals that needed sterilization. Full story.
