PAINTED VIOLINS: PASSIONS FROM THE PALETTE
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra

December, 2010

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra’s Painted Violins...Passions from the Palette project merges celebrated artists with the world of music to benefit children’s education. More than 20 notable regional, national and celebrity artists have taken bare wooden violins as their canvases and created strikingly individual and vibrant works that reflect a variety of styles and media, as well as personal concepts of art and music. Each gorgeous work of art is based on a symphonic work as the artist’s inspiration.

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will host both silent and live auctions starting at 6:30 p.m. on February 24, 2011 at Chesapeake Energy Plaza, in downtown Fort Worth. Tickets start at $100 each and may be ordered by calling 817-665-6500 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              817-665-6500      end_of_the_skype_highlighting, ext. 111. Pre-auction bids will be accepted through February 20, 2011 by calling 817-665-6500 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              817-665-6500      end_of_the_skype_highlighting, ext. 111. To see the complete collection of violins, visit www.fwsymphony.org/paintedviolins.

This auction is a rare and exclusive opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind works of art from artists who are celebrated and collected nationally and internationally. Artists include Lewis Bauer, Ron Cheek, Billy Hassell, Lee Herring and Annabelle Verhoye, among others, as well as celebrities such as Kay Granger.

“We are thrilled that we were able to attract such a high level of artistic talent among our participating artists,” said Robin Millman, chairman of Painted Violins 2011. “The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra is deeply honored that these individuals donated their time and talents to support our wonderful programs for children.”

Proceeds from Painted Violins will benefit Adventures in Music, the FWSO’s education and outreach program that inspires, educates and entertains more than 65,000 children each year.

This event is made possible in part by presenting sponsor Teletouch-Hawk Electronics. The violins will be displayed at FWSO events at Bass Performance Hall, around the community, and at www.fwsymphony.org until the main event.
