FIRST 350 active duty military members and families* are FREE!
In honor of Veterans Day, the FIRST 350 active duty military members and their families visiting the Museum on Thursday, November 11 will receive FREE museum admission and 15% off in the Museum gift shop.
*Active duty member must be present with valid military ID. Up to three (3) additional family members may receive free admission. First come, first served.

2nd Annual Gingerbread Design Challenge – A Blueprint for Tasty Competition

Cheer on teams of local architects, contractors, designers and engineers as they compete to design and build gingerbread houses “Iron Chef” style to benefit the San Antonio Children’s Museum. Brought to you by: San Antonio Children’s Museum, West East Design Group, Pearl and Architecture Foundation San Antonio.

Girl Scout Kids’ Gingerbread
Friday, December 3
5:30pm – 9:00pm
Celebrate the holidays with your troop! Join the museum for Girl Scouts Gingerbread Night. Decorate a gingerbread cookie or gingerbread house, explore the museum, enjoy some pizza and get a Girl Scout Gingerbread patch! Must register in advance.

Kids’ Gingerbread
Two Days!
Saturday, December 4 * 11:00am – 4:00pm

Sunday, December 5 * Noon – 3:00pm
Now in its fourteenth year, Kids’ Gingerbread makes it easy for children to create a keepsake holiday masterpiece. We provide the Gingerbread House or Gingerbread Cookie, all of the trimmings and lots of white icing to glue it all together.  We even take care of the clean up. What a sweet deal!

Kids’ Countdown

Mark your calendars for Kids’ Countdown, a fun, family-friendly party to celebrate the New Year. Kids will ring in 2011 at the stroke of NOON with a sparkling juice toast, confetti and more! Members are FREE. Members and non-members must register in advance.

Storytime: A Color for Consuelo
Saturday, November 13
11:30am and Noon
A Color for Consuelo was authored and illustrated by four students from Keystone School who were selected as the first-place winners of the 2010 DiverseMinds Youth Writing Challenge in San Antonio. They will make a special visit to the San Antonio Children's Museum to share their winning book about Consuelo the Chameleon and his quest to differentiate himself from his clan of Chameleons. Free with admission.

Arts Cart: Quilt Blocks for Peace
Saturday, November 13
1:00pm – 3:00pm
World Peace Day is Wednesday, November 17th. In celebration, we are making a PEACE QUILT.  Kids come make an individual quilt block for the PEACE QUILT which will be on display at the museum and then donated to a local charity.
Program fee: $3 per child + museum admission.  Limited seating. First-come, first served.

America Recycles
Monday, November 15
2:00pm – 4:00pm
Wait, don’t throw that away, it’s a work of art!  Learn about the importance of recycling and make an original masterpiece re-using recycled materials.

Reading Adventures is an early childhood program created and taught by experienced early childhood educators. The program strengthens language, listening and motor skills through story time, pretend dramatic play and multisensory activities. FREE with museum admission.      

Dots & Squiggles (Pre-K)

Dots and Squiggles is an early childhood program created and taught by experienced early childhood educators. Fun and engaging lessons encourage children to experience a wide variety of activities that incorporate art, sensory exploration, movement, music, story time, and dramatic play. FREE with museum admission.

The Art Studio is a fun, hands-on activity space where children and parents or caregivers can create art together. Lively and well equipped, the Art Studio provides opportunities for exploring self-expression led by artist-educators. FREE with museum admission.
