Live Auction Raises $4,500 at Family Reunion

Every year, my husband's family gets together for a rather large, super fun and incredibly well-organized family reunion. The reunion committee (yes, it's that organized) rents out a location, and the entertainment, meal prep and clean-up responsibilities are all divvied up. We typically have more than 100 people turn out for the weekend event, which always kicks off with an ice cream crank-off -- yum! How do we pay for it? With a live auction!  MORE>>

With four weeks under my belt as Development Director at Greenlights, I am ready to dive right in to the Greenlights blogosphere. During the interview process they asked, "What type of blog posts could we expect from you?" I think I responded, "Fun and humorous ones." That seems like a lot to live up to now. But what I can promise you as a blogger with a development perspective is that I will never use the phrases "put the 'fun' back in fundraising" or "show me the money."  MORE>>

Recently, I began working on a project with a new friend.  In our first planning session I made a suggestion, then asked for her opinion, adding something like, "I hope you'll give me your honest feedback. It will help us move forward and I won't be offended when you disagree with me." Her response was unexpected and thought-provoking: "I will always tell you the truth. I decided several years ago that, to the best of my ability, I will not lie."  MORE>>
