Witte Society Hosts 5th Annual Burgers, Bottles and Beer

There has never been a better time to be a Witte Society member! Enjoy an old-fashioned cookout in the Witte Museum courtyard catered by local favorite, Cheesy Jane's. Grab a grilled burger or hot dog, Caesar salad and handmade milkshakes then enjoy an evening of favorite backyard games. Guest fees are $18 for adults and $10 for children. Witte Society, Quillin Society, Voyagers and Explorers are free.

Dinos and a Movie: The Lost World (1925)

Join the Witte for a summer film festival Sundays at 2 p.m. June 20, July 18 & August 15! Bring the entire family to sit back, relax and catch a common theme on the big screen--dinosaurs. "Dinosaur George" Blasing will provide a dynamic and informative introduction for each movie. Included with museum admission.

Week-long day camp for children in grades
1-2 & 3-5
Make new friends as you explore the environment, experiment with science and encounter the people of South Texas history.
• Living Long Ago
Grades 1-2: Experience the travel and everyday life as an 18th century South Texan. Dress up, meet the people, imagine the smells and create the sounds of the San Antonio plazas.
Grades 3-5: Become an archeologist and explore how the people of the canyon lands lived, hunted and prepared food to survive the environment 4,000 years ago.
• Dynamic Dinosaurs
Grades 1-2 & 3-5: Take a journey through time and discover what dinosaurs left behind. Examine fossils and skeletons, then excavate and investigate to learn more about the ever changing world of dinosaurs.
• The Wonders of Water
Grades 1-2 & 3-5: Trek into nature at Brackenridge Park, the Headwaters Sanctuary and the San Antonio River to become an urban naturalist observing, examining and exploring the natural world around you. Create a page of recycled paper, design your own eco-journal and find your age in tree rings!

"Dinosaur George" Blasing Joins the Witte!
The Witte Museum is pleased to announce that "Dinosaur George" Blasing is now associated with the museum as Guest Curator to oversee the Witte's dinosaur exhibitions and related programs. "Dinosaur George" will also spend the next two years preparing and planning the Witte's new dinosaur gallery in the future Valero Great Hall. "We are depending on George Blasing to create the best dinosaur gallery in the country," said Marise McDermott, President & CEO of the Witte.
Texas Cavaliers and SARA Reward Witte
Special thanks to Witte Trustee Joe Braley, his family and musical guest Rodney Hayden for rocking away on the Witte Museum float this year during the Texas Cavaliers' River Parade for Fiesta. The Witte would like to thank the San Antonio River Authority for graciously donating their award for "Best Band" to the Witte Museum. The San Antonio River Authority and the Texas Cavaliers are long-time partners of the Witte, supporting educational programs. SARA's contribution will go toward the Witte's award-winning water programs while funding from the Texas Cavaliers Foundation will provide scholarships for area school children to visit the museum.Spring 2010
