April, 2010Texas Monthly Editor Jake Silverstein will visit the Katherine Anne Porter House in Kyle for a reading from his book, Nothing Happened and Then it Did: A Chronicle of Fact and Fiction, Friday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m.
The Therese Kayser Lindsey Reading Series and the Texas State University-San Marcos Department of English will cosponsor the event, which will be free and open to the public.
Nothing Happened and Then it Did, Silverstein’s first book, is the narrative account of the author’s journeys through the American Southwest and Mexico. Detailing his participation in a series of adventures and explorations, Silverstein seeks to examine throughout his book the relationship between fact and fiction.
Silverstein has held several reporting and editing positions, and his work has been featured in a number of publications. He is a contributing editor to Harper’s Magazine, for which he wrote the essay “Highway Run,” recipient of the 2007 PEN/USA Journalism Award.
Silverstein joined Texas Monthly in 2006 as a senior editor, and he was named editor in September 2008.
