AT&T Provides Matching Gift As Employees Donate Over $75,000
AT&T

February, 2010

Following the tragic shootings at Fort Hood, Texas on November 5, 2009, AT&T* announced today that  company employees contributed just over $75,000 in support of the Fort Hood Military community.

AT&T established a special employee matching gift program where funds donated by employees will benefit the work of military-serving organizations for their efforts to help the Fort Hood community recover from the tragedy.

"When tragedy strikes a community, it touches us all and demands our response. We are proud to offer company matching funds for the generous amount donated by our employees,” said Laura Sanford, President of the AT&T Foundation. “Both the employee and company donations will go towards helping a community rebuild its strength. AT&T and its employees are grateful for the sacrifices that military personnel make every day on behalf of the nation, and we are committed to providing them with our support.”

Nationally-based organizations who will be receiving funds include T.A.P.S, ThanksUSA and the USO.  Texas-based organizations receiving funds include Chaplain’s Fund (Ft. Hood, TX), Army Fisher House (Ft. Hood, TX) and Texas Military Family Foundation (Temple, TX).

For more than 85 years, AT&T has remained dedicated to supporting active military personnel, their families and veterans through charitable contributions, event and program sponsorships, hiring of military veterans and maintaining policies that support reservists when called to active duty. In addition to its long history of hiring veterans, AT&T has been a pioneer and leader in the inclusion of disabled-veteran-owned business enterprises in the corporate supply chain.

Located near Killeen, TX, Fort Hood is the largest active duty armored post in the United States.
