Volunteer Spotlight: Transitional Housing
Deb Lyons, MS Psych - GRACE Transitional Housing
In the spotlight this week is Transitional Housing STAR Kay Lee Cox! Not only does Kay Lee serve as an incredible Client Aide, but she also serves as a God Squad member, as well. Kay Lee can be seen at the various Transitional Housing sites at all hours of the day and night, weekdays and weekends.
She is "on call" most of the time and has learned that the only way to escape that duty is by leaving the state to visit friends and family now and then. However, we recently discovered that her cell phone works even when she's hiding in the mountains of Idaho! There really are no words to adequately describe how much all of us here in Transitional Housing appreciate Kay Lee's faithfulness and generous offerings of time and effort on behalf of our clients!
We are incredibly fortunate to have her as a volunteer! Thanks, Kay Lee....and please don't even think about a vacation for the next couple of months...
GRACE Dental Program Becoming A Reality!
Amy Holcomb, RN - GRACE Clinic Nurse Manager
We held our first dental screening Tuesday night the 9th during our regular Acute Care Clinic. Dr. Brian Martin, a local dentist in Grapevine screened over 20 patients in two and a half hours. During the screening process, we uncovered several clients who were in pain and need to have tooth extractions, and many that have cavities that need to be filled. We are now in the process of prioritizing the clients for services and scheduling them to have the work performed. This program is so exciting, and I want to thank everyone involved in helping get it off the ground. More information will be coming in future newsletters about how you can support the program to ensure its continued success.

American Cancer Society's Relay For Life
The 2010 Grapevine Relay for Life will be at the Grapevine Middle School on April 30th and May 1st.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.
