The Valero Alamo Bowl announced Monday that Valero Energy Corporation has extended its title sponsorship for another four years.
The agreement means that Valero will remain the title sponsor through the bowl game following the 2013 season, according to a news release.
Valero has been a sponsor of the Alamo Bowl since its inception in 1993 and became title sponsor in 2007 after the game had gone a year without one.
“Valero has always believed in giving back to the communities where it does business, and as San Antonio's largest publicly traded company and one of its top employers, we feel it's important to support major events like the Alamo Bowl,” said Mike Ciskowski, Valero's executive vice president and chief financial officer.
While title sponsorship will remain the same, the local bowl is entering into a new four-year agreement that will match teams from the Pac-10 and Big 12 conferences from 2010-13.
This season, the bowl is in the final year of an agreement that will pair teams from the Big 12 and the Big Ten. This season's game is scheduled for Jan. 2.
