The Capitol Area Council of Boy Scouts of America received a $1.2 million challenge grant from The J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation.
The Boy Scouts also announced a $2.5 million anonymous challenge grant. In order to get both grants, the nonprofit has to raise the same amount of money.
Under an agreement with the Mabee Foundation, the organization has one year to raise the matching funds; Boy Scout leaders are optimistic that they will be able to do so.
the funds will go toward construction of a building that will house a training facility.
